Writing a blog seems is rather like writing a diary – but it is not private but shared! I have spent time this week with the UK and Ireland CDC’s at their annual meeting together. CDC’s is the revised name for Mothers’ Union’s development workers and stands for Community Development Coordinator. Within the UK we currently have five, working with Mothers’ Union groups in the dioceses of Salisbury, Worcester, Norwich, Cork and the Isle of Man. It was wonderful to listen and share with them in the great positive ideas that they have for their members and for working alongside and in partnership with the local community. It was also great to hear about the impact working in this way is making to the local-level Mothers’ Union. Renewed confidence was an impact they all seemed to have in common.
The Mothers’ Union Council at Swanwick in early-February will be another opportunity to hear from the grassroots membership and to speak with the leaders of MU; to plan the future and support each other. The President for Mothers’ Union in the province of Southern Africa will also be joining us. I hope to send out a blog from Council for you all to read, so keep an eye out for updates, or follow our conference on Twitter at #muwwconf11
I hope this blog will be another way in which I can directly speak to the members and reach anyone who is interested to follow the activities of Mothers’ Union in the UK and Worldwide.
